Lyndall and Hunter Haynes fishing

The lake at Cave Springs once sported a fish hatchery, and many a child caught their first fish here.  This photo was taken circa 1982 of Lyndall and Hunter Haynes.  The siblings were regular visitors to the lake then, and big supporters of the watershed today.

Lyndall is now a teacher and has made the Illinois River Watershed a part of  the education process for her students by bringing her Montessori class to the watershed sanctuary to learn.  She’s a big proponent of teaching kids early on about preserving our rivers, lakes and streams!

Hunter serves on the Board of Directors for the Illinois River Watershed Partnership.  Hunter’s first-hand experience and lifetime memories at the lake inform and inspire his leadership as chair of the Program and Planning Committee of the IRWP Board.

On this Thanksgiving Day, we are thankful for family, fishing and so much more!
