Pearl Gipple Banks wrote this story about her childhood memories of Bartlett Cave, which is today known as “Cave Springs Cave”. It was published in the Benton County Pioneer in March of 1959. In her anecdote, Banks mentions Will Bartlett, whose full name, Wilton Mortimer Bartlett, can be seen today on the exposed concrete dam at the Watershed Sanctuary. W.M. Bartlett constructed the concrete dam that first formed “Loch Lono” in 1914, and he established the trout hatchery whose remains can still be found on the property.
